Description

Calliandra is a genus flowering plant from the pea family, subfamily of the mimosa-like.
It consists of 140 species from the tropical and subtropical regions of America.

The genus consists of herbaceous plants, shrubs and rarely small trees grow 0.5-6 m long, with bipinnate leaves. The flowers are produced in cylindrical or spherical inflorescences and have a large number of long slender stamens, which give rise to the common names powder-puff, powder puff plant, and fairy duster. These plants bloom all year round, but the best blooms are in spring and summer. They can be easily pruned.
