Olea is a genus of plants with about 20 species within the family Oleaceae. It is found in temperate warm regions and tropical regions of southern Europe, Africa, southern Asia and Australasia.
They are evergreen trees and shrubs, with small, overarching, undivided leaves. The fruit is a drupe.

For humans, the most important species is the olive, (Olea europaea), which is found in the Mediterranean region.
