Cyathea milnei (synonym Alsophila milnei), also known as Milne’s tree fern, is an endemic species of Raoul Island (Kermadec Islands, New Zealand).

This medium-sized tree fern grows slowly to 8-10 meters in height, has a dense crown with leaves up to 4 meters long, and exhibits moderate hardiness, with protection needed at temperatures below -1°C to -5°C.

The trunk is scaly and often covered with a “skirt” of dead leaves. The leaves are yellow-green to milky green on the upper side and lighter on the underside.
Thrives best in partial shade to shade, similar to other tree ferns, and requires a moist environment.
Needs a lot of water, keeping the soil evenly moist. The trunk should be wetted regularly.
Limited hardiness. Although some sources mention -5°C, it is recommended to protect the plant (fleece/jute) or move it to a frost-free place in case of severe cold, as leaves can die at -1°C to -2°C.
It is a slow-growing species.
