Beccariophoenix alfredii, also known as the High Plateau or Mountain Coconut Palm, is a recently discovered palm species endemic to Madagascar. It belongs to the genus Beccariophoenix and is closely related to the genus Cocos. Beccariophoenix alfredii is very similar to the coconut palm but is much more cold-hardy, making it an excellent substitute for the coconut palm in cooler climates.
